Food and Mood : Healthy Kids Initiative - Ages 8-12 Class #1

Description:

Processed foods and sugar are detrimental to our wellbeing.  The Food and Mood  Programs are designed to teach about whole foods ingredients and recipes and understand how the foods we eat relates to our health and how we feel on a daily basis.   The focus of our Healthy Kids Initiative is to nourish and empower children to connect with healthy food by participating in the kitchen.

Join Chef's and Instructors Diane Hoch and Marcella Guglielmo for the Food and Mood Healthy Kids Initiative with a focus on Anxiety and Stress.  This program will teach children to feel good about themselves inside and out.  Getting kids involved with preparing their food makes a huge difference in their willingness to try new things!                                                                    This 8 Week Cooking Program is designed to support and overcome the obstacles causing anxiety and stress.  Includes hands on cooking, nutrition and eating psychology education.  ( See Chef's Bio's for their training and information)

Classes are 1 1/2 hours in length   All menu's are Gluten, Dairy, Corn, and Soy Free. We can work with food allergies as well.

Week 1:  Mon. July 11  Getting to Know You - On the Menu -  Oatmeal and other breakfast options                                                                                                                            Week 2: Mon. July 18 Eating Our Emotions - On the Menu - Roasted Red Pepper Hummus and Canellini Bean Dip                                                                                               Week 3: Mon. July 25  Developing Positive Self Care Strategies - On the Menu - Massaged Kale Salad and Kale Chips                                                                                      Week 4: Mon. August 1  Balanced Thinking - On the Menu - Colorful Chickpea Salad and roasted Chickpea Crunchies                                                                                                           Week 5: Mon. August 8  Cook, Breathe, and Relax! - On the Menu - Coconut Quinoa and Vegetable Saute with Roasted Carrot Fries                                                                                              Week 6: Mon. August 15  Empowerment - On the Menu - Brown Jasmine Rice and Black Bean Saute with Garlic Roasted Broccoli                                                                                                       Week 7: Mon. August 22  Review and Self Reflection - On the Menu - Colorful Lentil Salad over greens with a homemade dressing                                                                                 Week 8: Mon. August 29  Guilt Free Eating - On the Menu - Warm Chocolate Chip Cookies and Almond Butter Brownies
